Introducing Late Checkout Charges
In an effort to streamline things for our boarding clients, we’ll be setting a clearer boarding check out time starting Jan 2, 2024. Just like a human hotel!
Designated Check-Out Times:
Mon-Fri: 8:00 am – 11:00 am
Sat & Sun: 9:00 am – 11:00 am
Guests who need to check out later than 11 am will still be able to check out in the afternoon with an additional Half-Day Daycare charge of $24.00.
Guests who have a grooming service scheduled on their last day will be able to check out in the afternoon at no additional charge.

Dedicated Spots for “Extra Playtime” Customers
Looking to board your dog during some of our more popular dates?
Beginning in 2024, we’ll be dedicating some of our boarding spots to accommodate guests selecting the “Extra Playtime” package.
If you have a pup who really loves to play, consider upgrading their boarding stay - we may have better availability there!
Health Update: Canine Respiratory Illness
Also at the top of our minds this holiday season is the health & safety of our guests.
We've been keeping a close eye on news regarding the respiratory illnesses affecting dogs in the U.S. & doing everything we can here at Passage East to keep our visitors healthy!
In addition to requiring all guests to be up-to-date on vaccines, our kennel team is diligent about regularly disinfecting & sanitizing our space and has added extra deep cleaning protocols to our daily schedule.

Happy almost 2024!
It's hard to believe that my wife Laura and I will have owned and operated Passage East for 24 years.
Back in 1999 Laura and I could not find a kennel that offered the outdoor playtime and caring environment that we were seeking for our own family of rescue dogs.
All these years later, we are proud of what Passage East has become and the family created here. Since day one, we have been all about “allowing dogs to be dogs.” Our loyal, dedicated staff are supported and encouraged to foster the ultimate animal-loving environment.
We have continually reinvested in the business and have created a truly special campus for both dogs and cats.
Since buying our neighboring property five years ago, we can now boast a full 3.86 acres with six buildings for our animals, two staff apartments,four outdoor play yards, an indoor play yard, 100 covered outdoor runs, 100 indoor sleeping spaces, a three-person grooming salon, and a Cattery with outdoor exploration space and a separate driveway entrance.
Our staff has also expanded to include 13 full-time and 11 part-time employees.
Passage East also proudly continues to be a family endeavor - you may notice our four daughters Mary, Amy, Becca, and Anna working when you pick up your dogs and cats!
We’re all very excited to continue to invest in and grow this business to support our four-legged neighbors & dog rescue.

The Kennel Gets a New Manager!
We are delighted to introduce our customers to Passage East's new Kennel Manager, Heather Bridge.
Heather comes to us with a wealth of experience working with dogs, including doing work with breeders as well as rescue dogs. She's been an invaluable addition to Passage East so far and we're so happy she's here!
Introducing Peak & Off-Peak Pricing
In order to give our customers the best pricing possible while continuing to provide the excellent services our guests have come to love, we’ll be adjusting our pricing beginning Jan 2, 2024 to introduce Peak Season & Off-Peak Rates.
A nightly surcharge of 10% will automatically apply for all peak periods, including major holidays and local school breaks.

As a fun & busy year draws to a close, we wanted to take this opportunity to check in with all of our wonderful customers and update you on some of the exciting things we’ve been working on here at the kennel.
We’ve included info here about recent projects we’re especially proud of, as well as important pricing & policy changes taking place in 2024.

Playtime gets a whole lot better!
In Spring 2023, we started a massive design project at the front of our property. Our main play yard is now updated with state-of-the-art, pet-friendly turf, new fencing, and shade.
The K-9 Grass turf we installed is specially designed to regulate temperature and dries easily. This means the new play yard is gentle on paws and will be much more comfortable for our important guests all year long.
Privacy fencing also makes for a nice, quiet, play space.
Our doggie guests don’t have to worry about the busy roads nearby when they’re secure in their own little playtime oasis.
In addition, our new natural-grass play yard provides a nice alternative for our mini-playgroup sessions and extra one-on-one time. Our furry friends are loving all of our new play options!
